autorun in lInux
hai friends
will an autorunnable cd working in windows, work in linux...???? If not ,how to make a cd autorunnable in linux??????? please help. |
Short answer is no.
CDs can autorun on Linux but this is dependent on your settings. It is not necessarily the default behaviour. Even if autorun is enabled, the 'exe' file set to run on a typical Windows CD won't be able to run on linux. The CD will still be readable of course. |
you could set your fstab to auto mount the CD device @ startup i believe.
Or you can just use the mount commands but like stated above, you won't be able to run the windows binary unless using WINE or something. What distro are you using/what type of CD is it? |
But how to make an autorunnable CD/DVD, which will not only be automatically mounted (this I have enabled in my Mandriva), but the system would open an indicated file immediately after mountig it?

This thread is 7 years old, I don't even think it is relevant any more. Do you need to know how to make a script file or a .jar file executable?
