automatic updates

how do I use automatic updates? After a new install, I try to connect to the network and it cant seem to find it.

given this, how do I configure an already installed rh9 to automatically update? I got this installer from the red hat ftp site.

thanks
Jose

If you can't connect to network, be sure you have your hardware correctly setup.
Can you ping an external address, such as www.debian.org?
In particular, if you use a DSL modem, try to google (from a networked system) for its model name + "linux", you may find drivers and/or info.

oh yes, i can browse the internet from it fine. Just that the red icon, that I'm thinking is automatic updates isnt connectiong to wherever its supposed to be connecting

so if its working for someone, maybe I can get the url where youre connecting to for updates using that red icon?
