Automatic login?
Hey, I'm completely new to the linux world, but the lure of myth tv has become too much for me to stand. I've been building a freevo box for a while using myth-tv's how-to guide and I've got everything set up fine.
However, I want my box to be self contained - that is, no keyboard or mouse. However, this poses a problem when login into my Myth user. Is there anyway I can have it log me into my Myth user automatically upon bootup without prompting me for a username and password? EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm running Fedora core 4. |
You should be able to enable automatic logon in the system setup.

Actually, I believe it depends on the display manager you use, the Ferora default DM, GDM (GNOME Display Manager) supports automatic logon whilst the KDM (KDE Display Manager) does not.
So, if you use an "out of the box" Fedora Core 4 system, you can do an auto logon. (As I recall, its an option the the "System" submenu.) I presume that you will have access to a keyboard and mouse so you can configure your system before you go "display only." Good luck! |
I'd check first if FC2 give you this possibility...
If it doesn't have a lokk here http://easymamecab.mameworld.net/html/autologin.htm Ciao |
