Automatic dialup

Dear all
I hacve recently installed Red Hat 7.2, and I am trying to set up PPPD. At present I can connect to my ISP ok using wvdial, but I really want to automate the process using ppp-on and ppp-off scripts. These scripts do not seem to be generated by the install of Red hat, although the Howto I have read on the subject suggests they are (at least in earlier releases of Redhat). I have set up these scripts as per the HOWTO but nothing seems to work.

My main aim in all of this is to be able to load Internet Exporler form my network, and PPPD dials out without having start it via wvdial

Can any one tell me if there is a HOWTO on PPP for Redhat 7.2

Many Thanks

are you aware of diald? if not then that's definitely what you want to be looking at. It uses the ppp scripts as well tho. scripts like that aren't really that standard. my old ppp script was:

/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/modem 57600 debug user qp.fsnet.co.uk \
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v '' AT OK ATD08089933006 CONNECT '\d\c'"

all just one line that i sussed out over about 30 mins of trial and reading the pppd man page.
