Autodetect ethernet and internet connection


I just installed Fedora and I wanted to know ( if im not mistaking ) the command to auto detect internet connection.

Can anyone help ?

I don't know autodetect for internet connection, I think you must configure your modem for dialup connection or your ethernet card if you have a router for fast links

Do you have configured it during Fedora installation? Which ethernet card do you have?

i have the one that comes with the motherboard... the built in one.

To see more information type on a shell : /sbin/lspci |grep Ethernet

i get Ethernet controller: nVidia Corparation nFrorce2 Ethernet Controller (reval)

now when i try to search for that ehternet controller on the list they give me, its not there. what should i do ?

Ok, you need nvidia drivers for your card.

now its saying " Error: Unable to find the system `ld`:Please make sure you have the package 'binutils' installed. If you do not have binutils installed then please check that `ld` is in your path. "

any suggestions ?

install binutils, download it from here

yet another error. Its saying now "Error: Failed Dependancies: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.4) is needed by binutils-2.15.94.0.2.2.2.1"

so then i do located libc.so and i get

/lib/i686/libc.so.6
/lib/tls/libc.so.6
/lib/libcs.so.6

so if im not mistaking the libcs is there but it still gives me the error. Any idea ?

tried that and it said.

Error: - /var/cache/yum/base/header.info cannot be found.
Please ask your sysadmin to update the headers on this system.
