I downloaded an flv file from the net and extracted the audio as an mp3 file. This is a voice only mp3.
The original flv file and the extracted mp3 file has a bad hum in the left channel.

I successfully removed the hum with the solo button. When I save the changes, it reverts back to the original mp3 file. I have the project saved and can play the cleaned up mp3 through audacity. I am unable to create a new cleaned up mp3 so I can play it with my mp3 player.

How do I successfully create a new mp3 file?

I am new to editing mp3 files. I have googled this and can't find a solution.

How do I do this with audacity?

Maybe cut the good channel and paste in new project. Then cut bad channel and put in new project, then remove noise. Then cut both to new project and save.

I just grab noise on stereo and do it that way, never had a single channel noise.


I think I read where it says if you split it and do the work in the project then you combine it the actions apply to all channels.

Somehow, I managed to remove the bad left channel, convert it to mono, and successfully save the new mp3 file.

I hope I can remember what I did so I can have success with the next file.
