Audacity install
I downloaded 'Audacity' .gz package from the internet and compile it with 'tar zxvf'. Then I did './configure'. Everything went well. But then I did 'make' and I got error 'make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.'. I was in the audacity folder. So why the 'make' didn't work?
Or could anybody recommend a similar software. I have Mandrake 9.2 and want to use my microphone.

ewww audacity was horrible last time i tried it... but anyway
sounds a lot like you either didn't actually run ./configure at all, OR you didn't read the README file which may tell you that you need to run make with a certain parameter, such as "make linux" or something...

That's the last lines after './configure'. What I have to do with this.
Would you tell me a better software than Audacity? I would like to use my microphone with it.

configure didn't finish, and didn't make you a makefile. i think you can configure without wx-windows, but i can't remember.
look at turnkey audio linux package. it's huge and has everything.

From the Audacity 1.2.0 README.txt:
"First you must download wxWidgets from: http://www.wxWidgets.org/ "
Exactly what your error message refers to.
