Attempting to install magicjack on linux


Question from newbie...is the magicjack phone system compatable with ubuntu o s system ? Newbie

We'd really prefer that you tried to do some basic research for yourself first, and then came to us when you are "stuck".

It looks like nettalk might be a better solution for Linux users. Their dongle is $70 but it will talk directly to a router via ethernet with no computer needed. Other than that, costs appear the same as for MagicJack. The only drivers are for when you want it to access the network via USB through your computer like if using a laptop on a public wifi hotspot. Those are not for Linux.

you could also try installing magicjack in wine under linux that might work.

According to magicjack homepage FAQ, expect Linux support sometime this quarter.

Website has been updated! The Linux support for "this quarter" is indicated as being as of late September 2010. That is promising. Maybe they'll come through. This time.
