Attemping to use xsane to operate Genius vivid-1200 scanner

I'm new in linux. I tried to use a scanner Genius vivid-1200 TA under xsane-0.996, but the program detect a encore Elntv video as device of capture. How can I reset this routine and force the program to detect the scanner?

From a terminal, type:

scanimage -L

and post the results. Basically, if it shows your scanner, you can make sure that xsane detects your scanner by:

xsane <name of scanner as detected by scanimage -L>

cheers,
