attach to another linux server

Hi all!

Another real newbie question!

I have 2 linux servers (in 2 different rooms...), and wish to access one form the other. What do I need to do this?

Thanks,

Robin.

A network card in each machine and either an RJ45 cat5+ crossover ethernet cable or 2 RJ45 cat5+ stright ethernet cables and a hub/switch.

Apologies, I didn't mention that they are both hooked up to a netwrok, and I have NFS running, however, I am looking for the software or setups I need to have a terminal emulator on one machine, looking at the other

I hope this makes sense!

Thanks,

Robin.

If you don't need GUI access from one to the other, plain old SSH will be quite sufficient. Make sure sshd is running on each machine (service sshd status) and start it if it is not (service sshd start). Then ssh -l <login> <machine IP> will get you connected.

Great! That worked just fine. If I need GUI access, I'll just go ahead and install VNC on each end.

Thanks!

Robin.
