ATI 3d Drivers...
 

Hey I am having trouble installing my 3d card. I have a ATI Radeon 8500 128mg. The report I get from Check.sh is as follows.

Now the problem lies in this.. The drivers offered by ATI only support the 6.2 libc version and won't work for me. What can I do? Is there a way to revert to 6.2?

Not easily. I'd instead send a flock of emails to ATI with your error message and requesting them to give you a new driver that works with the latest libc. I'm not familiar enough with the ATI drivers, but is there any chance you can compile one for yourself? If so, that'd be the way to go until a binary is released.

The drivers are backwards compatible with glibc22 so you dont need to email ATI or get new drivers.

I've posted about this several times also, and get sad assed replies like that. If you know how it's done, do share !!!

I've been running nvidia cards now, and the drivers are a dream. But ATI's allways seem to elude me. So come on, someone somewhere should know how to get around that prob.

Well, if you havent converted the RPM into a deb package, then use the "--nodeps" switch. If you havent even figured out that all you need to do is match up the Xfree86 version your running with the package on www.schneider-digital.de.
