aterm in fluxbox without boarder
Need some help on this one everybody. I was trying to get fluxbox to run aterm without any borders like you see at the bottom of the page on this link.
http://linuxreviews.org/software/x11-terms/aterm/ From what I'm reading it's not in the code for aterm but in fluxbox. It goes on to say check your window manager to find out how to make your windows border-less. Well after hours of google I still haven't found the trick so I started playing with the "Styles" and still haven't figured out the right combination. I don't know if I'm on the right track to getting the job done so I figured it would be better to ask the experts and get some feed back. Thanks in advance all.... |
well, acording to that link, if you run it with the option -bl it will run borderless in newer fluxboxes. So, edit ~/.fluxbox/menu to add that option to the aterm exec entry.

in your 'apps' file in your .fluxbox directory add the following:
[app] (aterm) [Deco] {NONE} [end] |

Thanks for the info everyone. I had tried all the post mentioned above that were on the link and it turned out that I made a typo on the apps file that was causing the problem. I guess I feel dumb now, but thats what makes everyones help so valuable. If you know it's suppose to work and it doesn't them it's normally something stupid. In this case it was a typo.
So, I've got this cool atem boarder-less and now I just have to figure out how to move it around since I don't have any handles on it. Thanks again |

That was a quick problem solved. Thank you "shrikant.odugoudar" for the
quick advise on that. |
I've set a keyboard shortcut whereupon pressing
ctrl-alt-F12 I can toggle between menu / no menu bar. Again you will have to mess about inside one of the files in your .fluxbox directory. If you need to know the exact procedure to do this I'll find out for you from my config files. I cannot remember off the top off my head. uncle-c |
