Unhappy ata1 srst failed (errno=-16)


I came in this morning and boot up my xw9400 workstation only to get the error :ata1 srst failed (errno=-16)
I rebooted it severally and got the san answer. I also tried changing the cable, it is still the same.

please I need instruction on how to go forward.

I think your hard disk has failed or showing signs of failure.

With a rescue disk try running smartctl and get status of disk.

Or your hard disk cables might have become loose or defective. Remove and reinsert or change cables.
