Wink asterick and compatable hardware


can you use asterick to create an answering machine with legacy modems or does it have to be a zaptel or digum card? I want to make a phone menu loop for anoyying people calling me, just to mess with my friends. like if someone calls from X number play this sound file put them on hold for a min wile making them listen to some crappy hold music then....ect...ect just wondering and if I have posted this in the wrong place sorry I am A newbie
