Assigning Multiple IPs to a website


How do one can assign multiple IPs to a website. Like Google does,

What are the benefits of doing that.

how google does things and how normal businesses / people do things are seldom the same. A common step is to just provide multiple DNS entries, but it soon will diverge into many different solutions and mechanisms for a functional end result.

There are many motivations for it, geolocation, resilience etc., all generally part of the overall remit of high availability.
