Jimbuck, now I am pretty sure this is the same problem as this thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...howing-859838/

I think you need to follow the instructions to rename the hidden directory ./mozilla

I.e. the problem is not your wireless connection, but firefox

@ jimbuck, I'm no star, just willing to help. I'm going to agree with tur third. This looks like a Firefox issue although the ifconfig output looks incomplete at best. You may want to make a copy of your bookmarks.html file so you can import those after you get Firefox sorted, if you have a lot of important bookmarks. If not, you should be sorted once you have a clean profile.

@ tur third, Thanks for jumping in and helping.

@ davidreednyc, Did you get your issue sorted or at least a new thread going?

Good luck. ;-)

Thanks, Peacedog. I haven't had a chance to play around with this (work and kids) but I will try your advice. I tried Linux several years ago (Mandrake) and spent hours with someone from a Linux forum on ICQ but could not get online. I gave up and recently decided to give it a go on a spare computer, so I hope it works this time.
