asing about perrmisison in linux


I am running red hat linux 7.2 KDE, I just want to know about permission in linux, because I had a file that ask me a permission so I can't open it

Any respond would be appreciated. Thank's

First of all check file's permissions.
If file's owner is other than you then login as root and open the file.

to check who owns the files u can use ls -l it will show youl the user and the group owner of the file to change the ownership use the following commands
chown, and chgrp.
if u are not the root then use the "su" command to become superuser and then use the two above command. to know more about the commands use "man chown" or "man chgrp"
