Argument list too long for ALL commands


Hello all,

I am on Centos 7, I am unable to give more details because every command I initiate, it gives the error " Argument list too long"

The system was working I am not sure what happened all of a sudden,can anyone please help?

puppet was writing to the /etc/profile file and it caused an issue, so I rsynced a new /etc/profile to the problem server and rebooted and it solved the issue.
