ARGH! Java Wont INstalL!
Ok, I downloaded the binary for Java's Runtime Environment, I need Java installed on this box. Followed all instructions. JAVA itself is installed on the machine, but I cant get the plugin to work for my browser. MoZilla help says to enable it in preferences which I did, and it still says that the Java Plugin does not exist. Is there anything to make this easier?

Get a better distro: www.gentoo.org :D Cool |
Oh my goodness MasterC your at it again. Do you work for gentoo or slackware?
P.S. I just downloaded and burned gentoo to cd. I'm ready to go. |
Me too. I've never done Gentoo before, but I figure it's worth a shot since I talk it up all over the forums :D
Now that I've got my server up (pfft, without any RAM though) I don't need to worry about testing out new distros. So here I go with a Gentoo install! :) Cool |
Below is my symbolic link to the java plug-in under plugins directory.
libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so [/code] Sun also has another step to look under Help > About Plug-ins in Netscape or Mozilla. If you see JAVA then JAVA should be working. Also look at http://www.justlinux.com/ for more instructions for JAVA. |
