Arent alloved to install programs, something wrong


Hey, everytime I try to install something in Slackware 10.2 I just gets this message:

Cannot install //home/uro/OOo_2.0.2_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz: package does not end in .tgz
RESULT=0

How do i fix this. When I was to install aMSN it worked fine but when I are to install Open Office or enything els I just get the abov mentioned message. How do I fix this?


I juse the KPackage tool.

hehe.. try to rename it to a .tgz binary

mv blah.tar.gz blah.tgz

I don't think the above suggestion would work, as the installation instructions suggest that that package contains RPMs.

There's a Slackware package here that you can use.

where did it say that he was installing an RPM..
that is stupid on slack.. :-)

The OO.o package is a compressed file of RPM's.
The fact that he said:

RESULT=0
Indicates that this is what he was dealing with.

Reading the question is helpful.

If you downloaded OOo directly from their site then what I can remember it is a collection of rpms, so extract them and cd into the rpm folder. And to install run
Code:
# rpm2tgz *.rpm
# installpkg *.tgz
