Are active pdf links possible in Linux?
 

I understand it is possible in Windows to publish a pdf and make its hyperlinks open for readers. Can Linux do it too? If so, how can it be done?

Yes you can. You can use Libreoffice to create a clickable link to anything including a pdf file. Just use the Format menu and select Character. Then click on the hyperlink tab and paste in your link. If you want the resulting file to be in .pdf format then just export it (in the File menu) as a pdf file and you're done.

Another way to do it in LibreOffice is to highlight the string you want to link and select Insert-->Hyperlink from the menu, then paste the target link into the dialog box that appears.
