apt-get dist-upgrade hosed gnome

i tried to apt-get dist-upgrade to both sarge and sid and both times it hosed gnome. The error was broken dependencies and it kept asking me if libgnome-perl was installed. when i tried to apt-get that i got failed dependencies. I just can't figure out whats going on

Gnome seems to be slightly out of whack in unstable at the moment.

apt-get was pretty cool few months ago and I thought that with it, my dependencies problem would be solved. Using apt-get nowadays you will most liked end with a broken distro :(. At least I've broken both Redhat and Jamd with apt-get...

apt-get isn't really made for rpm's it's like running a M$ app with wine and hope for the best.

I don't know about that... running an M$ app with wine will not mess with your distro, unless you did something really stupid, or intentionally. You usually don't run wine as root ;)

Though, as for reliability, I would agree.
