Question apt-get

tried to get synaptic with apt-get and get this error,

[root@dhcp-194-1103899 j]# apt-get install synaptic
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package synaptic

i did the apt-get update....

could anyone help me on this one ? thanks

what source(s) are you using for apt? local (i.e. cd) or ftp/http etc?

Here is synaptic for Fedora http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...-1.fr.i386.rpm

Red Hat 9 http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...-1.fr.i386.rpm

www.linuxjunior.org had a good list of APT sources for Debian & Red Hat also they have sources for Mandrake (URPMI)
