Applying Network Settings

Hi,

I have a new SMC2532W-B pcmcia card running on Mandrake 9.2, using the orinoco_cs.o driver. I find that when several APs are available, the card chooses the one with the strongest signal. Using iwconfig, I can change the essid of the AP, and I see that the MAC address has changed too, but ifconfig shows that I still have an IP from the first, strongest AP.

So my question is, how can I apply the settings that I have made via iwconfig such that I am actually connected to the new network.

Thanks,

d
