applying a patch

hey guys,
newbie question for you. i'm trying to patch my orinoco wireless card. i went to this dude's site and found his patch, but i'm not sure how to apply it. when i clicked on the download link, it displayed the results of a diff that he had run against his new .h and .c. is there anyway i can run diff to make those changes to a new file, or am i going to have to manually make the changes in the .c and .h? also, once i've made those changes, how do i compile the new .o file so that it picks up the changes? i cannot remember the gcc command to make a .o, unless it's just gcc -o orinoco_cs.c orinoco_cs.o.

thanks for any help.

you need to use the patch program, in the directory containing the file to be patched:

Code:
patch -p0 < the_patch_file

thanks man, always wondered how that worked.

is anyone out there familiar with recompiling the wireless lan drivers? in the wireless directory there's a makefile, but i can't figure out what options it wants.
