applications bar top left ubuntu 10

ok just lost windows and loaded ubuntu 10
i want to add scripts from the medibuntu website

the youtube website shows that you click applications bar top left and a little windows open where you can paste the scripts you want to add.

this Ubuntu does not have that
how can i cut and paste scripts as easily

if anyone has a how to website or youtube presentation that will show me i would be ever so grateful

ubuntu pages that i have checked have a vocabulary that requires a steep learning curve

remember i am a newbie

Ubuntu 10.x and previous versions had the default desktop of Gnome 2.

Ubuntu 11.04 (the current release) had the default desktop of Unity, which is significantly different from Gnome 2.

Which version of Ubuntu was shown in the YouTube tutorials you saw? If you don't know, post a link to the videos and someone here will likely recognize it.
