apache wont display page

Hello everybody,

Problem: I’m not able to access WebPages, I configured on myLinux redhat 9/apache from my windows 2000 machine.

Locally I’m able to access the WebPages, this is within redhat9 but it wont open from win2k machine…
-I able to ping the linux machine from win2k successfully.
- it the listening is set at 80… but I have tried the following 192.168.2.9:80 but problem still remains.
- Going through the router but its also configured correctly.
- checked the router and its seems to be fine. since I successfully pinged the hostname I’m assuming the router is fine.

So…. what am I missing? Why cann’t I access the page from win2k machine…when I search from my w2k machine it keeps telling me that page not found.

Any ideas?

On the linux box, check your firewall (most likely iptables) settings and make sure it's not blocking port 80.

Check out the firewall related issues as in the previous suggestion.

There is a trivial solution which may sometime work out if no issue is there with the firewall. Type

http://192.168.2.9/
or
http://192.168.2.9:80/

in your Intern*t Explor*r address bar. Note the trailing /

Also, if you have configured the proxy settings in the Intern*t Explor*r make sure that you choose the option "Bypass proxy for local addresses" and also put the your web server IP in the "Exclude from proxy" list.
