Apache, PHP, and MySQL

I've recently installed all 3 of these via apt-get and none of them seem to work. When I start apache i get nothing but forbidden errors. I checked around the forum for someone else who may have asked about it and I read about apachectl and when I try things like apachectl configtest, it doesn't work and says apachectl isn't a known command @_@ i know this is a majorly way to ask this but any help would be appreciated...@_@

try purging the package, then try "apt-get install apache php4 php4-mysql"

if your system is setup anything like mine on your www dir should be /var/www/

if your getting any more problems try pasting the errors and perhaps even the httpd.conf contents..

ok nm, I used synaptic to purge them @_@ trying to apt-get again ><

Edit: can't find apache, says httpd replaces it, can't find php4, and it probably won't find php4-mysql either @_@

I find installing apache, mysql and php easier from source. Just my opinion, this way you know where everything is going and can configure to your liking. For the moment I'm guessing you just want things to work and are not to fussed on how its configured, so I've supplied a link to a fairly easy HOW-TO [1].

Good luck and post back if your stuck

Kristijan
