apache configuration?

Hello Newbie here;

Trying to get mac 10.3.3 to talk to Apache on Suse 8.2 over ethernet.
On Suse localhost shows Apache is running.
I switch the mac from modem to ethernet.
At this point asked for IP and Subnet Mask.
This may be a mac issue but I'm lost for the troubleshooting so I thought I'd ask:

Is there any way to tell if apache is actually listening on eth0?

ifconfig returns eth0 and lo
eth0 has
UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
....
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

http.conf
has
Listen:80

I suspect I'm missing (at least) a whole step in configuring Apache and/or having the Mac connect
(my 10.3.3 is bad or I'd install perl DBI and run locally)

Any help pointers or even flames appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Do you see your webserver test page or your own default page just by browsing to the webservers IP address? There really isn't anything else you do on a remote machine connecting to a webserver, that's if it is running. If you see it on the localhost, then it should work.
