apache auto-appending .php to urls

is there a script for forcing .php to incoming urls on apache?

for example:

incoming url is:

http://www.webpage.com/home

force apache to add .php extension so it ends up as:

http://www.webpage.com/home.php

much TIA ! - jeff

Hi,

I just joined the Forum.

I need to activate mod_rewrite in my apache server. Can some body help give detail procedure?
Till now I have:
1. Added Load Module directive in http.conf file
But next it requires .so file in the modules directory.
2. To make avaialble .so file I tried to install the
apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386.rpm
But this in turn wanted several other rpm. Message is as follows:

warning: apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID f9651d5a
error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/sbin/apxs is needed by apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386
apache(EAPI) = 1.3.27 is needed by apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386
db3 is needed by apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386
libdb-3.1.so is needed by apache-mod_rewrite-1.3.27-3.i386
Suggested resolutions:
httpd-devel-2.0.52-9.ent.i386.rpm
3. I could install httpd-devel-2.0.52-9.ent.i386.rpm using 'yum instal' command

But I am not able to rid of dependencies like /usr/bin/apxs, apache(EAPI), db3 and libdb shown above.
