Apache 2 change www path problem MDK10.2

Since upgrading to mandrake 10.2 I have been having problems with apache.
I want to change the default path from /var/www/html to /home/ewan/www for my convenience.
I don't seem to be able to get apache to point to that directory though. My log files keep coming up with an error that it's trying to access /var/www/html

[Thu May 05 19:02:04 2005] [notice] SIGHUP received. Attempting to restart
httpd2: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 200.0.0.150 for ServerName
[Thu May 05 19:02:05 2005] [notice] Digest: generating secret for digest authentication ...
[Thu May 05 19:02:05 2005] [notice] Digest: done
[Thu May 05 19:02:06 2005] [notice] Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/2.0.50 (Mandrakelinux/7.2.101mdk) mod_perl/1.99_16 Perl/v5.8.5 mod_ssl/2.0.50 OpenSSL/0.9.7d PHP/4.3.8 configured -- resuming normal operations
[Thu May 05 19:02:11 2005] [error] [client 200.0.0.150] client denied by server configuration: /var/www/html/index.html

How can I configure apache not to deny these requests and to point to a different location (ie my home directory)?

Is this possible/a wise thing to do?
How do I set up permissions for the files to be accessed?

I also managed to delete the per-directory options entry for /var/www/html and now I can't even see the standard ADVX page (403 forbidden message).

Basically i've made a mess of it and am unable to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ewan

Assuming that you are not using virtual hosts, edit /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and change:

DocumentRoot "/var/www/html"

to

DocumentRoot "home/ewan/www"

And donít forget to give read/execute privileges to all.

chmod -R 755 /home/ewan/www

I have been using webmin to edit the settings, i'm not sure if this will create additional problems?

You should also be able to see the problem by going to http://undersiege.xs4all.nl

Thanks so far, hope we can solve this....
