Wink RE: apache

The easiest way to check if apache is started already is to open up your browser and put in "localhost" or your IP address in the address bar. If apache is running you will get a test page that will say that your web server is running. If not go into the Mandrake Control Panel open up the services module look for Apache and click the start button the Apache Service.

As for where you need to put your html files, /var/www/html is the default place unless you configured apache otherwise.

I still prefer command line myself....
From apache's /bin or /sbin directory (depending on your config)

./apachectl start

Most other info can be assigned or discovered in the file
httpd.conf

Look for 'Document Root' to see where your default document root directory is.

Cheers,
alar
