apache 1.3.33
Hi, i want to install apache 1.3.33 since i dont have a compatible modem i downloaded the tar ball from the apache site and transfered it to my linux comp running ubuntu hoary.
I read the readme file and it says for a quick installtion type ./configure --prefix=PREFIX where PREFIX can be substituted with the path apache should be installed under they suggest for instants /usr/local/apache. so my question is what should the default path be i dont want it to muck up since i want the server to be able to run html and cgi scripts from their relevant directories in /var/www. I know that in the congig file i'll have to change a couple of things but i want to avoid file not found screens. So what should i set the prefix to? |
I'd set the prefix to what they said, if I were you... I mean, I've installed it once on a Linux system, and I had no problems with installing it in /usr/local/apache, so...go ahead! :D
Also, if you're going to read their documentation, it provides for easier reading because you don't constantly have to alter your code to something different to theirs (if you see what I mean). ;) J_K9 |
