aopen MX36LE-UN onbaord video issues

Hi all,

I have a system with the aopen MX36LE-UN mainboard. My issue is that the board has an onboard video controller, a trident blade3d. This is not working correctly and I have an ATI Mach 64 PCI card installed so that I can use the system. The BIOS does not have a specific setting to disable the OB video, only an option to select the PCI card as the one that is initialised, and settings for the frame buffer size. This has worked fine for me in Windows, but I have been having problems getting a Linux distro on. I have tried Suse 9.2 Pro and Fedora Core 3. For Suse, it works for a little while but then the system locks up completely. This also has happened with some live gnoppix cds. With Fedora, installation locks up when selecting packages.
I believe that this is an issue related to the video controllers fighting, and I hope someone can tell me how to get Linux to ignore the OB video controller since I can't disable it in the BIOS.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I wouldn't be so sure about the two cards getting in each other way. It's commonly known that ATI's Linux drivers aren't very good so that could be your problem too. Post the output of your XF86Config or xorg.conf file. Also post the output of "/sbin/lspci".
