Cool AOL on UNBUNTU?

I am very NEW to Linux, and I have what mybe a very stupid question but here goes. I am running Ubuntu and was wondering if i would be ale to access my "dial up" AOL account with it. I do have it doing everything else I used to do with Microsoft, in fact i do not use microsoft at all anymore.

thanks

Here's something that may help you.

http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/LinuxTutorialAOL.html

Also for IM (if you use it) you can use GAIM

Just found this also
http://downloads.channel.aol.com/linuxproducts

AIM for linux (go figure), I guess soon they'll have the dialer available also.

Also looks like AOL was working on a Beta version of the dialer in 2004 but it was or is only available to Linspire users (don't quote me on that I'm not really sure only Linspire has it, and I never used AOL. There are just too many cheaper alternatives)

You also might want to check out the Linspire AOL dialer. They want you to pay for it through their CRN system, but they have released the source code at www.linspire.com/dialersource

When I tried to get AOL working on a Thinkpad, neither Pengy or Linspire really worked, so be prepared to ask a lot of questions and do a lot of searching. In fact, moving away from AOL may be the easiest option if you want to keep using Linux.

If you want to continue using dialup, then why not use the cheapest I have found thus far.

Warp Connect
http://www.ionramp.net/

$5.95 a month no setup fee
It should definitely work with linux because the use of the connection software is not necessary.

When I was using dialup I used access4less same price as warp connect, (they have since been taken over by Earthlink) and I did not have to the connection software to get it to work in linux. I now have DSL with Cavalier.

Also if you're interested in DSL verizon is offering a $14.95 package this is not an introductory deal I think its 768K.

I use SBC Yahoo! DSL, and it works fine with all the Linux distros I've tried (over twelve). I don't know if I'd recommend it (since I haven't tried much else for ISP), but it works.
