Unhappy AOL DSL on RedHat Linux Professional Workstation

I am a complete and utter linux , and I need some help on setting up my AOL DSL Connection.

I am in the UK.

I have seen places such a Penggy and PengAOL, but I just don't understand how to set them up with AOL DSL in the UK. If anyone could give me some detailed instructions, that would be great.

I plan on keeping my AOL connection working with windows, so i cant do any flashing to the modem.

Thanks,
Paul W

Penggy and PengAOL AFAIK are for just for dial up. Not familar with the GUI network configuration for RH but it should be able to configure DSL. For user name use your complete screen name i.e screen_name@aol.com

Or in a console window:
adsl-setup
adsl-start
adsl-status

I didn't have any problems with Mandrake or Trustix (based on RH) at least with SBC (US Telco) DSL. I wouldn't have a clue about matters in the UK.

Yes. The configuration tool either text or GUI should prompt for a password.

Does it matter that i've got a USB DSL modem? I've heard that it can cause problems?

Thanks for your help up to now

I don't have any experience with a USB modem. By any chance does RH recognize the modem.

BTW does the modem have an ethernet port?

No, its the one provided with AOL, so no ethernet port.

I cant switch to a new mopdem because AOL doesn't support them

(I am asking these questions before i put RHL on my PC, so I know if im going to be able to connect to the web or not. With my previous experience with RH, i have never tried the steps you have outlined, so this may work )
