Question Any serial commands


Are there any commands that can be invoked from the terminal or command promt to communicate with the serial devices like internal modems... i have tried minicomm and set serial but have not really understood them can any one give me knowledge regarding this..... i have tried the man pages but not been able to understand that well.... any suggestions.?

minicom wont help you communicate with your internal modem its meant more for communicate with routers and types.
If you want to communicate with you internal modem and look up instructions on using "AT" commands
echo "ata" > /dev/modem
etc
these are modem commands.
at is for attention
atz will reset your modem etc.
