It depends on your area of interest. But, if it's simplicity what you want, I'd check QT, there are some tutorials available on the trolltech web site:

For embedded stuff you might want to check qtopia,

I don't understand your other question.

We don't really understand your question to well.
Based on what you're saying you want us to suggest a project for you and then show you how to accomplish the project.
If that's the case, it isn't really a project if someone else is doing it for you.
I would have to suggest you figure out your own interests a bit more specifically.

For instance, my interests are configuration files along with a system or systems that serves the home user/home business person.
That entailed finding a system that would allow me to install the tools I needed and be able to keep the system functional with zero conflicts and minimal cursing.
That's what I have designed for myself using Slackware and being fluent with various configuration files helps.
I'm able to accomplish my home business goals as well as use the same system for other area's of interest, such as learning from here as well as possibly helping others out.

Your stated interest was embedded system.
That's a very broad field and needs narrowed down just a tad and then we may be able to offer up some suggestions as well as possibly provide some research material for a project.
