Any good books about linux?
 

I want to learn more about Linux and how it works I was wandering are there any good books that about Linux that you will recommend. thanks.

O'Reilly web site is a good place to start---or any large bookstore (Where do you live?)
Lot's of free stuff at tldp.org

there are many books on linux around though many are fairly out of date,
still most of what they will tell you is very sound and wont change,

i still refer to a book on UNIX that was written when solaris 2.6 was the main thing around and it still serves me well to this day,

I found the O'Reilly book on Fedora very useful, even though I've been using the distro for several years, so check out their

although, like a lot of Linux books, it aimed rather more at the system administrator than the home user. A lot of people seem to thing it cooler to use complex command-line instructions or to edit scripts than to use the perfectly good software utilities that come with the distro ...

Don't neglect Amazon: their customer reviews can save you wasting money.

I have an old red hat Linux for dummies book, which may still be relevant in some aspects. Anyway, most commands don't change much with time. I also have a huge book called "The complete reference Linux 4th Edition" which was published way back in 2000(?), and it is still useful. O'Reilley books can be very useful, but some of the information in them can be found on the internet too.
