Any equivalent to mdfind on linux?

I've been working with linux for a while and I've yet to find a command such as the mac os x mdfind that will return all unix executables and ONLY unix executables....

I'm sure I can concoct ana find incantation to do this but on a large system not only would it be painfully slow, but also give false positives.

Nope.

Here's why:

This "central metadata store" (and, consequently, the mdfind program itself) is unique to Mac OS X.

You could, of course, write a script that calls "find" and filters against permissions and/or file type (for example, using "ls -l" and/or "file", respectively).
