Another disk

I'm used to linux and I use it more often then windows nowdays still I have to make this post in the newbie forum.

One thing that I havent really learned yet is users & permissions in Linux (yes I'll have a look into it)

Anyways I added another disk (hdc1) to my comp so I did mkfs.ext3 on it and I want to mount it to /home/user/something.
Mounting is no problem but the user got no right to write files in there?

How can I make a /etc/fstab entry that will allow this user to do anything in ~/something ?

Check out the wiki entry on adding a new hard drive to fstab
http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/..._disk_to_fstab

Tuxfiles has an explanation of what things mean which is pretty quick and easy way of understanding fstab
http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/fstab.html

If you want to use the mount command and want rw access then
Code:
mount -o rw exec uid="your user id" gid="your group id" /dev/hdc1 /place/to/mount -t ext3

I just saw the HCL on the top of the page a week ago, and I still do not know how certain things work. For example how do people know what posts they posted to have gotten responses, when you click on myLQ and list subscriptions, it does not have the post count, nor who posted in that post last.
