Another Application Disassociation issue - Open with - which file to edir

Suse10 SP1, KDE, X window
Foolishly, logged in as root, I selected a folder when viewing in Konqueror and accidently opened in Kate and did the "remember application association". Now everytime I select a folder I get Kate up telling me it can't open the file.

I have worked around by going "Open with" - other and chose File Manager.

However this is screwy as now each time I select a folder it opens in a new window, ad nauseum

I would very much like to know which file I need to edit to remove all the apps I now have listed when I do "Open with"

Welcome to LQ!
You have learnt an important thing here: Don't use the GUI as root. Nasty, unexpected things can happen!

I cannot remember the file that stores this behaviour (/usr/share/apps ... ??), but maybe you can undo the damage by R-clicking a folder, choose "Open with" then in the application box put
/usr/bin/konqueror --profile filemanagement
Tick "Remember this association". OK.
