When I try to install a package under redhat8.0 I get the following error (that I didn't get under redhat7.3)

/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.44966: line 12: RPM_INSTALL_PREFIX: parameter null or not set
erroe: %post(plt-202-1) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

anyone have a brilliant idea?

definitly not brilliant, just a plain old guess.....

which package are you trying to install? Is it part of the redhat suite? If not, try installing it from source. It looks to me like the rpm either isn't compatable with your new system, or it's just a crappy rpm.

What are you using to install the RPM? are you doing "rpm -i" or using a gui? try using the command line and see if that works.

It's ok I managed to find the source and installed it ; the reasons why I was asking is that the same package installed with no problem under redhat7.3 but whatever, it's a happy ending
