amule slows-down the Internet a lot
Hi all
Please kindly help with another problem - active amule significantly slows down the Internet browsing. The effect is a lot harder then it is supposed to be - amule takes only 10-15 kB/s of traffic out of the 96kB/s, but it slows down the Internet at least in 3-4 times. Thanks in advance |
Are you certain amule is only using that much traffic? How have you checked this?
|
It is easy to see when downloading a big file.
Amule is working - download speed is 5-15kB/s (even when Amule is waiting, don't download anything). Amule is closed - download speed is 91.5kB/s as it should be. It affects web browsing as well. |
Yes, but you stated "amule takes only 10-15 kB/s of traffic out of the 96kB/s," and I was asking how you came to that conclusion.
Apparently, it is taking quite a bit more than 10-15 kb/s. |
First time Amule was working and I saw the total download 10-15 kBytes/s (on bottom line of the appliaction window)
Later I experienced the same effect when Amule did not download anything - all files were in "waiting status" |
what's the upload speed like when it gets slow??
|
Upload speed is about 10 kB/s out of 16kB/s possible
(I have 750/128 download/upload connection) Do you think the upload traffic may affect the download? Why... |
From my experience at Windows high upload reduces the total network speed.
Reason: For each file/page/image you download from interent the program sends request - it is upload data. The amount is small but at every page there are lots of different banners, buttons images - everyone requires downloading - thus requires sending request. From what I can see high upload can reduce internet browsing speed dramatically. Any time I want to use internet I just throttle down eMule to 1/1 down/upload speed. |
