amrecover does not work

Hi,

I just installed amanda-backup_client-2.6.0p2-1.rhel4.i386.rpm on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 system.

But I don't know who to check if it successfully installed or not. When I try to run amrecover from root, I get:

-bash: /usr/sbin/amrecover: cannot execute binary file

Why is this happening?

Google that error message ("cannot execute binary file"), and you will find a lot of different possible causes and things to try. The error message is sort of like the "check engine" light. It doesn't tell you much, other than to call a mechanic and run diagnostics.

Hi

Have a look at the Admin guide for Amanda: http://docs.zmanda.com/Project:Amand...strators_Guide

Did you follow the process documented here to install?

alli_yas, that's actually the documentation for the enterprise edition and might be a little confusing, since koopa13 won't have the Zmanda Management Console, for example. The community documentation is on the wiki - http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Quick_start.

The error is a real odd ball one. Could be caused by a lot of things. Maybe a careful re-install would fix it. But it may be something else.
