ALSA--> Sound not working

Hi, I am using ubuntu, and i am trying to get my sound working.
At the moment i can get neither onboard or my soundcard to work.
I however no they both worked with yoper automaticly.

When I type alsaconf in the console it cannot find the command.
Does this meen I do not have alsa?

If I remember correctly, Ubuntu uses arts by default. What soundcard do you have and what is the output of lsmod?

browncow 05-25-2005 03:23 PM

My soundcard is a SB audigy.
I am sorry but I do not know was an lsmod is....
Care to explain?
Also what is arts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

you have to issue command lsmod in the console/shell and paste your output here. I am having similar problems with arts.. is it possible to use alsa instead in ubuntu?

Thanks

mohit dhawan 05-28-2005 07:32 AM

how does any body find out what sound card he uses

mugstar 05-28-2005 12:38 PM

`lspci` should show you your soundcard if it's PCI or onboard. General instructions for ALSA can be had here.
