Don't ask me what I did, because I don't remember, but now my sound doesn't work.
Its not so much that it doesn't work, since it does make sounds and the sound card is recognized in hardrake, but the sound is EXTREMELY choppy and distorted. Half second chunkcs of sound are played, from which the song I'm used to can be recognized.
My sound card is built into my motherboard, its a VT82C686 by VIA. I've already installed the latest ALSA drivers, even though it seems I already had them (and yes, I DID install them properly).
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me.
P.S.: I'm using Mandrake 9.0 and Gnome 2
Here is an update on my situation: I reinstalled KDE and the audio works flawlessly in KDE 3.0.3. However, it still works as described above in Gnome, my prefered windows manager.
