All MX Record Receive Mail

Hello,

I am moving my mail account from one server to another one.
How should I setup DNS Record that both mail server receive same emails till the DNS propagated?

If my MX Record is:

MX 10 mail.xyz.com
MX 10 mail.123.com

What should I do that mail.xyz.com & mail.123.com both receive mail?

Thanks,
Jimijoe

MX records don't work that way.. to steer email to multiple servers at the same time..

Setup the NEW mail server as a lower priority MX record in DNS.
Give it a couple days to propagate the records through DNS.
When you are ready to switch just pull the old server offline.
Mail will then default to the next highest priority MX record which is your new server.

MX 10 mail.xyz.com
MX 20 mail.123.com

If everything work as expected, you can remove the old MX record entry and increase the priority of the new mail server if you so desire..

if not you can reconnect the old mail server and troubleshoot the problem with your new server

note: A lot of spammers seem to aim for secondary mail servers figuring they will not have the same spam filtering capabilities as the primary mail server.. they try to pull an end around when you have multiple servers up there. dunno why they just do. Or at least that was my experience.
