All internal IP's are taken?

I'm resetting up my box, and just went to business class for my cable, when it's time to configure my network card I use to use 192.168.1.100 now no matter what I type in, the system says it's already in use or already detected. what to do?

What exactly is your setup? Where is the DHCP server that is leasing these private IP addresses? What OS are these machines running? How many machines are in this private network?

We have one dynamic ip, I use everydns.net and a program running on a really old laptop that connects ever xx time and if the dynamic changes, it tells everydns ,
I've got(windows)
1 PC desktop set to 192.168.1.5 (works fine),
1 pc lapto set to 192.168.1.4 (works great, Im on it now),
the old laptop runs win 98, and is set to 192.168.1.3
1 other xp laptop runs on 192.168.1.4

DHCP is turned off at the router, and I use to use 192.168.1.100 for the suse 9.3 linux box, but now none work. I just put in a pci ethernet card because I've heard sony vaio desktops are notorious for their builtin network cards going bad, the error I get is something along the lines, of eth0 isnt or can't be initialized.

Basically the cable comes into the cable internet box, it then goes to the router, the linux box is hooked up to the #1 port of the linksys router, one of the ports goes out to a switch.

Okay problem possibly solved, I put in a winbond pci ethernet card and it allowed me to put in a static ip address, my sister in law has a sony vaio and her onboard network card went bad, so maybe mine went bad too.

Okay, if it's not solved, feel free to post again and we can work this out further.

Good luck.
