Question All about wine

Couldn't find this with a search ....... Anyone have links to some good articles explaining: Where to get it, how to install it and how to use it afterwords. I'm thinking I'd like to try either Zorin OS or Mint. So many to choose from. Thanks very much :-)

If you really want that crap, most distributions have it in their repositories. The package manager will download and install it. Zorin has Wine pre-installed.

Wine was developed to run microsoft office on a gnu/linux system. Winehq is the place to go for wine info. Note if you want to use a windoze program under wine you need a cosha version of the original for wine to work properly. Zorin has an easy to use install under wine. If you must use Windoze then use it (the o/s) and take the handcuffs.

I've found that wine-compholio works well i have netflix working & if I have a installation disk I can give wine the path to it & it installs & works. I've only done it with 1 program so far, but if I get another microsoft disk I'll try it to see if it's consistant. However my grandson likes roblox & it doesn't work when I try to log in, even with user-agent-switcher.

Well no, I'd rather not use it, but I'll probably have to because there are some very unique programs for testing telescope optics and they just won't run in Linux at all. I'm preparing myself though. I bought a sata hard drive switch. I can run linux most of the time, shut down, press a button and restart in Windozzz Xpee (off line)

Also want to thank Eddy and Fred for their answers. :-)

I like the sound of the 'sata hard drive switch', are they expensive and how do they work?

Hi .... No not very expensive. I found mine on evilbay for $25. It has four buttons on it to select the drive. Not a lot to it. Made by Orico
